Service Your Furnace

  • Before the cold autumn and winter weather sets in, be sure to call DelFera Heating and Cooling to service your furnace.
  • A technician should inspect the furnace to make sure everything is in working order and that there are no leaks every year.

Use Fireplaces Safely

  • Use a fireplace screen to keep sparks from flying out of the fireplace.
  • Never leave a burning fire unattended and make sure the fire is out before going to bed at night.

Use Caution with Space Heaters

  • If your space heater requires venting, make sure you have vented it to the outdoors.
  • Never use an oven or stove to try to heat the house
  • Always allow at least three feet of empty area around space heaters.

Reconsider Leaf Burning

  • The Air Defenders reports that burning leaves produces dangerous and cancer-causing chemicals and recommends homeowners not using this method to dispose of their leaves.
  •  If you decide to burn leaves, wear a protective mask and burn them far away from houses and other structures.
  •  Leaf burning should not be attempted in windy weather conditions so always check weather forecast before.

Exercise Candle Caution

  • According to the National Candle Association, almost 10,000 home fires start with improper candle use.
  • Never leave candles unattended and keep candles out of kids and pet’s reach.

Change Smoke Alarm Batteries

  • Change the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors when you turn back your clocks for Daylight Saving Time.
  •  Check and replace home fire extinguishers that have expired.
